The municipality of Clervaux, in line with its Cittaslow philosophy, is committed to fair trade at all levels. In 2022, the municipality of Clervaux was certified as a “Fairtrade Gemeng.”
To obtain “Fairtrade Gemeng” certification, a municipality must meet five verifiable criteria that demonstrate its commitment to fair trade at all levels of the municipality.

Criterion 2: “Fairtrade Gemeng” Resolution
Criterion 3: Awareness-raising activities & visibility in municipal media
Criterion 4: Development education & active participation of municipal stakeholders
Criterion 5: Availability of Fairtrade products in the municipality
Cittaslow Clervaux
“Cittaslow” (a combination of the Italian word città = city and the English word slow) promotes deceleration, sustainable implementation and maintenance, as well as an improvement in quality of life in contrast to today’s fast pace, the complex world of work, and the growing environmental crises.
In a globalized and increasingly hectic world, it is important to preserve and develop local identity and uniqueness in many areas of life and the economy.
The municipality of Clervaux has long been committed to issues related to local production, slow food, traditional crafts, sustainability, and improving quality of life. In collaboration with the Our Regional Nature Park, projects and initiatives have been developed and implemented in line with the Cittaslow philosophy. The goal is to positively enhance quality of life and strengthen residents’ sense of connection to their hometown and region.
