FerroForum is an association that brings together a community of passionate volunteers and committed professionals dedicated to the preservation, transmission, and promotion of metallurgical history and know-how. It is based at the heart of the Central Workshop of the former Esch-Schifflange steelworks, also known as the "Metzeschmelz".

Presentation of our organisation

FerroForum is a dynamic community of enthusiasts – volunteers and staff alike – united around the cultural heritage and technical know-how linked to iron and steel. The association is based at the Central Workshop of the former Esch-Schifflange steelworks, now renamed Metzeschmelz, an iconic site that bears witness to the industrial history of the region.

Around forty volunteers form the living heart of FerroForum: former steelworkers, civil servants, artists, students… aged 20 to 75. Together, they share their skills and experience in a spirit of mutual support and conviviality, without distinction of age, gender, or social background.

The life of the association revolves around a wide range of activities: practical workshops, as well as conferences, exhibitions, and cultural events. From demonstrations and concerts to guided visits, every moment becomes an opportunity for meeting, sharing, and collective creation, making FerroForum a place of transmission, innovation, and living memory around iron and steel.
