The aim of the association is to promote folk music and traditions. We meet once a week for rehearsals and once a month for committee meetings. A great atmosphere is guaranteed!
The Harmonie des Mineurs was founded in 1920 by 12 miners in the ‘Hiehl’ district of Esch-sur-Alzette so that they could get together in the evenings to share their common passion: music. Similarly, mining traditions are honoured through the wearing of helmets, the mining symbols featured on the uniforms, and the celebration of Saint Barbara’s Day on 4 December.
