Presentation of our organisation
The "Guillaume Tell Strassen" archery club is a non-profit association affiliated with the "Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Tir à l’Arc" (Luxembourg Archery Federation).
The Association’s objectives are the practice and development of archery, the organisation of sporting events, the management and maintenance of facilities and equipment, and the promotion of the association as a place of community and friendship, including an active and beneficial cooperation with the commune of Strassen.
The archery club Guillaume Tell Strassen (GTS) was founded in 1960. Since then, archers from GTS have represented Luxembourg at numerous Olympic Games and international archery competitions, including the Indoor World Series, World Cup and World Championships.
In 1986, GTS moved into a purpose-built hall at its current location in Strassen, which in 2002 became the National Archery Centre with the completion of an outdoor and 70m indoor shooting range. This hall, one of the best archery facilities in Europe, allows GTS to offer a high standard of training to its members, and to host both national and international competitions.
The highlight of the archery year is the annual World Archery Indoor World Series competition GT Open, an international archery tournament. Featuring some of the best archers in the world in both compound and recurve disciplines, 450 archers from around the world compete for medals in 12 categories across three days.
As a non-profit association, GTS has around 100 members, and is run entirely by volunteers, some of which are elected to a permanent steering board, and some of which are members who support specific events or activities.
