The Ilula Orphan Program (IOP) is a community-based organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children and marginalized communities in Tanzania through education, care, and sustainable development. Education and child protection are at the core of IOP’s work, with the goal of ensuring every child has access to inclusive, high-quality learning opportunities and a supportive environment in which to grow.
Founded in 1998, IOP provides comprehensive child sponsorship, operates schools and vocational training centers, and supports orphans and vulnerable children with education, nutrition, healthcare, and psychosocial care. The organization also strengthens teachers and schools to improve the quality of education and promote inclusive, child-centered learning approaches.
Beyond education, IOP works with families and communities through social and economic empowerment programs, aiming to reduce poverty and promote sustainable development. IOP Luxembourg acts as a partner organization, mobilizing resources and awareness in Luxembourg to support these initiatives and contribute to long-term educational and social development in Tanzania. Together, the IOP network strives for a future where all children can access quality education and build a dignified, self-reliant life.
