Do you live in Mersch? We are collecting memories, anecdotes, and experiences for a sound installation that will be exhibited later this year. Share your memories of Mersch in your own language. The project will be presented at the Bis am Bus festival (6–7 December). (Recordings of the stories on 17–18 October in Mersch.)

Mir wëllen iech Ons Heemecht weisen (we want to show you our homeland) is a Luxembourgish grassroots NGO that fosters intercultural dialogue between local residents and refugees. We create informal moments of exchange through intercultural events and workshops for refugees to get to know locals and vice versa.

Presentation of our organisation

Mir wëllen iech ons Heemecht weisen was founded in 2015 when a large number of refugees suddenly arrived in Luxembourg. Initially a volunteer-led initiative, a program of intercultural activities quickly emerged to support refugees’ cultural integration and to create opportunities to meet locals. In our experience, cultural workshops and artistic expression have proven to be excellent vehicles to facilitate verbal and non-verbal communication amongst people from different backgrounds.

Ever since, we’ve collaborated with artists, musicians, dancers and other cultural actors. We are co-financed by the Ministry of Culture, foundations, and private donations.
