Founded in 2019, our association aims to create a respite home in Luxembourg for children, teenagers, and young adults with serious illnesses, as well as their families.

Presentation of our organisation

The aim is to offer a safe and supportive environment for a joyful break to families whose child (or children) is living with a life-limiting illness. Children and their families will be welcomed and accompanied from the moment of diagnosis, throughout the course of the illness, including during times of deterioration. Support may also continue beyond the death of the child. A facility specifically dedicated to children and adolescents receiving palliative care—already existing in neighboring countries—would be a first in Luxembourg.

The house could welcome children and young adults from 0 to 27 years of age and their families, either for daytime visits or longer stays, with comprehensive care provided for the ill child. Families would be offered support in all its dimensions.

Our respite home also aims to be a place of rest, welcome, information, and training—for the entire family of the sick child, for caregivers, volunteers, and interested healthcare professionals.
