Premier Secours Ordre de Malte Luxembourg asbl
PLACER L’ESPÉRANCE AU CŒUR DE LA VIE DES PLUS PRÉCAIRES !
We are looking for volunteers who enjoy interacting with people and intercultural exchange to actively support our book lending service (mobile library) in refugee centers in Luxembourg.
The main tasks include:
• helping to transport bags of books and distribute them
• actively participating in on-site activities
• meeting residents of refugee centers
• establishing friendly contact with people from diverse backgrounds
• presenting our selection of books in several languages
• inviting interested individuals to borrow a book
A respectful and tolerant attitude towards the Catholic religion is also expected, although belonging to this faith is by no means a selection criterion.
Desired profile:
• Be open-minded and comfortable approaching people and building relationships
• Be willing to actively lend a hand
• Want to make a concrete and useful contribution
• Be tolerant of all religions
The free books from the “Mobile Library” have three functions:
• Help promote reading among those who may not have the financial means to buy books or who are not accustomed to visiting libraries
• Build relationships with the residents of the Grand Duchy
• Organize activities in community centers around books and writing, bringing together readers and non-readers.
What we offer
• A rewarding human experience
• A caring and respectful environment
• The opportunity to contribute to making reading accessible to all
• Encounters with people from all walks of life
