Presentation of the opportunity for volunteering

The service
dropIn" offers sex workers psychosocial support and health care in a discreet and non-judgemental way, with the aim of improving their living conditions and well-being, preventing social exclusion and stigmatisation, and promoting autonomy and health through a range of social, educational and medical activities.

It is located in the Gare de Luxembourg district at 31, rue de Bonnevoie.

Opening hours:
- Mondays and Tuesdays from 10am to 6.30pm by appointment.
- Tuesdays and Fridays from 4pm to midnight.

The mission
The Drop-In is made up of a multidisciplinary team including nurses, a social worker, a psycho-social worker and educators.
As a volunteer doctor, you would be an important link in ensuring the health and well-being of sex workers. Your commitment and medical expertise would be extremely valuable for this often marginalised population with little access to care.

At present, a medical service is available every Wednesday from 8.00 pm to 10.00 pm.
A change of timetable can be considered if necessary.
DropIn" works with several GPs on a rotating basis, depending on their availability.
However, we would like to strengthen the medical team by recruiting new doctors.
The surgery is equipped with all the necessary medical equipment (dressing materials, ultrasound scanners, sampling equipment, auscultation equipment, medication, etc.).

The following procedures are carried out during medical consultations
 All types of blood sampling.
 Blood tests for sexually transmitted diseases (HIV - hepatitis C - hepatitis B and syphilis).
 Smear tests for gonococcal and chlamydial infections and PAPTest (HPV).
 General medical procedures.
 Pregnancy tests and standard ultrasound scans.
 Dressings and other wound care.
 Contraception: distribution and monitoring of contraceptives.
 Vaccinations
 Prevention advice and awareness-raising
 ...

Possible compensation under contract
This is voluntary work, but compensation is possible.

The conditions
You need to be authorised to work in Luxembourg (or have an application pending).

In terms of languages, fluency in French is recommended, but fluency in German, Lëtzebuergesch and any other languages would be an asset.
