YOUR VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENT
As part of its primary care services, Médecins du Monde Luxembourg is seeking social workers who wish to volunteer their professional skills to assist patients at its medical centers in Luxembourg City and Esch-sur-Alzette.
YOUR COMMITMENT
As part of your volunteer role, you will, among other things:
conduct a social assessment of the patient’s situation;
collect relevant social data and ensure it is recorded in the electronic medical record;
provide active listening, inform, and refer patients based on their situation;
collaborate with other members of the Médecins du Monde team as well as with social partners and organizations on the ground;
help ensure that consultations run smoothly;
participate in social team meetings and training sessions.
LOCATIONS AND AVAILABILITY
Clinic hours take place at the Médecins du Monde medical centers in:
Luxembourg City
Esch-sur-Alzette
Shifts may take place during the day, during office hours, as well as on Wednesday evenings. Scheduling is organized based on volunteers’ availability and the needs of the clinics.
FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT Given the nature of the support provided to patients, this position is intended for individuals who:
hold a degree in social work;
are licensed to practice in Luxembourg;
have a good knowledge of Luxembourg social law, particularly regarding access to healthcare and immigration;
familiar with the Luxembourg social services network;
comfortable using computer tools.
This role also requires strong listening skills, an interest in working within a multidisciplinary team, and a particular sensitivity to situations of vulnerability and access to healthcare. Compassion, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills are also important when supporting patients.
