Presentation of the opportunity for volunteering

Volunteers regularly visit retirement homes or private households to offer their time to break the isolation of residents and share moments together. Activities may include conversation, board games, singing, reading, or short walks. The main objective is to create bonds, provide human warmth, and contribute to the well-being of the elderly. The commitment may also include accompanying residents on outings—in safe conditions and depending on the physical condition of the person being visited—such as visits to relatives, shopping, trips to the doctor, accompanying them to Sunday mass or church, discovering cultural events, etc.
To facilitate integration, the first visits are carried out in pairs. Once comfortable with the role, volunteers can then visit patients alone, offering a listening ear, companionship, and a moment of human interaction.
The role requires a very open mind towards people from a wide variety of backgrounds. A respectful and tolerant attitude towards the Catholic religion is also expected, although belonging to this faith is by no means a selection criterion.
Desired profile:
• You enjoy human contact and know how to establish a climate of trust
• You show empathy, patience, and a great ability to listen
• You are open-minded and comfortable with people from very diverse backgrounds
• You are respectful and tolerant of all religions and beliefs
• You know how to show discretion and sensitivity in sometimes delicate situations
• You want to make a regular and responsible commitment
• You are willing to offer your time, presence, and genuine attention.
