Volunteering at the CHL: close to the patients

Published on 23/03/2026 by Agence du Bénévolat

At the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg, relational volunteering is integrated into the daily work of the departments thanks to close collaboration with the Agence du Bénévolat.

The Mir kënnen Iech hëllefen project is part of the Agence du Bénévolat’s mission to develop social volunteering in Luxembourg and to connect motivated individuals with organisations that need human support. The Agency also supports organisations in creating structured relational volunteering projects to ensure high‑quality engagement and lasting impact.

At the CHL, Margarida Martins and Marie‑Paule Sidon, soignantes attachées à la direction des soins, explain how volunteers provide time, availability, and practical support that complement the work of the care teams. We also spoke with three volunteers, who describe their role and how they guide patients and their loved ones.
