Presentation of the opportunity for volunteering
DEEMOOLS is a project by GERO in collaboration with the “Upper Sûre Nature Park” and the “Luxembourg Center for Contemporary and Digital History.” It aims to preserve older people's life stories through video – to foster intergenerational exchange and promote cultural recognition.
We are currently seeking dedicated volunteers with prior video editing experience to help with assembling and editing the interviews.
You should enjoy working with digital media and have a good sense of visuals, sound, and rhythm. We are not looking for beginners, but for people with relevant experience – in a professional or private context – who are interested in contributing their skills to a meaningful project.
The software to be used is still being decided – Final Cut Pro (Apple) is one option. You may use your own computer. Equipment can be provided if needed.
Free training (as needed) will be offered to help you become familiar with the project and connect with other volunteers and the team.
Your tasks as a video editor:
– Reviewing the raw footage (interviews with older people)
– Selecting appropriate scenes and sequences
– Editing and finalizing videos (audio, basic effects, subtitles if necessary)
– Collaborating with interviewers and GERO project coordination
– Following a consistent video style in line with the project
What you should bring:
– Experience in video editing (e.g. Final Cut, iMovie, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere etc.)
– Basic technical understanding of formats, files, and video structure
– Interest in older people's stories and social engagement
– Independence, reliability, and a collaborative mindset
What we offer:
– Participation in practical training
– Support from the GERO team
– Exchange with other volunteers
– A chance to help make older generations more visible
– Upon request: a certificate of voluntary engagement
We are looking forward to welcoming motivated video talents to this special project!
