Volunteer Day 2023, under the High Patronage of Her Royal Highness the Grand Duchess, demonstrated the positive impact of volunteering in our society. This year, a stronger commitment was made by the Agence du Bénévolat, its partners and the players present to combat loneliness among the elderly through volunteering.
Volunteer Award of Merit 2023
A particularly moving moment was the presentation of the Prix du Mérite du Bénévolat, which recognises the significant commitment of a volunteer and, symbolically, pays tribute to all the committed, dedicated and inspiring volunteers in Luxembourg who help to strengthen social links and support the fabric of the organisation.
The Prix du Mérite du Bénévolat 2023 was awarded this year by Her Royal Highness the Grand Duchess to Mrs Josée-Anne Mangen (79), a volunteer with the Amicale de la Maison de Soins et du Centre de Jour de l'Hôpital Intercommunal de Steinfort (Amicale HIS), for her commitment to breaking the solitude of an elderly person.
First a founding member of the Amicale in 1997, and then president for 16 years, Mrs Mangen has given her time to offer moments of well-being to the elderly and create social links.
BÉNÉVOLAT quality label
The day was also marked by the presentation of the BÉNÉVOLAT Quality Labels to five exemplary organisations: Association de Soutien aux Travailleurs Immigrés (ASTI asbl), the Luxembourg Red Cross, Fondation Autisme Luxembourg, Lëtzebuerger Guiden a Scouten (LGS) and MEC asbl (Mouvement pour l'Égalité des Chances).
This certification reflects the excellence of their voluntary work and reinforces the collective commitment to quality volunteering, which brings about positive change.
Conclusions of the Assises du Bénévolat 2023
The Assises du Bénévolat on 29 June 2023, which focused on the major theme of combating loneliness among the elderly, provided an opportunity for rich and constructive discussions. The conclusions drawn underlined the importance of strengthening initiatives aimed at breaking the isolation of older people, highlighting the need for collective action.
Volunteer Day 2023, under the High Patronage of Her Royal Highness the Grand Duchess, and the initiatives presented are supported by the Ministry for the Family, Solidarity, Living Together and Hospitality and by the Grand Duchess Charlotte National Relief Organisation.
Volunteer Day 2023 was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and recognise the commitment of volunteers.
We would like to express our deep gratitude to our partners who contributed to the success of this event.
A big thank you to all those who made this day unforgettable and who continue to make a positive difference in our society through their generosity and unwavering willingness to serve others.
